LAWNCREST LIBRARY Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Established in 1961, The Lawncrest Library has remained a cornerstone of the Lawncrest North Philadelphia community. As part of the Rebuild program of the City of Philadelphia and the Free Library of Philadelphia system this 8800 sf facility offers a variety of spaces catering to children, teens, adults, and seniors alike. The renovation endeavors to maintain the original modernist design elements, emphasizing light and openness while also introducing more meeting and collaborative spaces. SITIO conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Library’s existing conditions and then seamlessly transitioned into the roles of architect and interior designer. Collaborating closely with the librarian staff and community, SITIO facilitated the selection of furniture pieces tailored to the Library’s needs. Through its renovation, the library will enhance its ability to better serve its neighborhood, embodying knowledge, connection, and opportunity.
