THE CHESTNUT AND THE PENN/DREXEL NEWMAN CENTER WIN A ULI PHILADELPHIA AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE
SITIO’s redevelopment of the Penn/Drexel Newman Center has received a ULI Philadelphia Award for Excellence. The multi-faceted project is the product of a private/institutional partnership between EQT Exeter and the associated institutional entities that support the Penn/Drexel Newman Center - the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the Parish of St. Agatha - St. James. SITIO led the partnership’s master planning, rezoning, and architecture efforts for both the Newman Center and The Chestnut at University City.
The project consists of a complex of mixed-use buildings and courtyards thoughtfully designed to engage the adjoining campuses of The University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University in University City. The multi-phased project incorporates The Chestnut, a new 30-story 405-unit residential tower, and the newly renovated and expanded Penn-Drexel Newman Center.
This biennial award represents the highest standards of achievement in the development industry and recognizes outstanding and transformational land use developments, best practices, and creative visioning.
